Cocaine Possession

Cocaine is a Schedule II controlled substance. This classification is reserved for drugs that have a high potential for abuse and side effects. Possessing small amounts of cocaine fits under the drug possession charge in the State of California.

However, if you are charged with possession of cocaine for sale, you face very serious consequences. Possessing, or even purchasing, cocaine or cocaine base with the intent to later sell the drug can lead to 2-4 years in prison and a fine of up to $20,000.  If the amount exceeds one kilogram, you can have 3-25 years of prison added to your sentence. The charge of possessing cocaine to sell is not eligible for Prop 36 treatment.
