Resisting Arrest Charges

Resisting arrest has a broad possible definition. It can be either resisting, delaying, or in any way obstructing a police officer or emergency medical technician (EMT) from performing his/her duties. Examples of resisting arrest may include giving false information to a police officer during an investigation, being physically uncooperative when being placed under arrest, or preventing an EMT access to a victim in need of emergency care.

Penalties

Resisting arrest is a misdemeanor punishable by up to one year in jail and up to a $1,000 fine.
